Sierra, 30cal
| brand: | sierra |
| caliber: | 30cal |
| grains: | 180gr |
These bullets are made for 30-caliber rifles and have medium to large powder case capacities. They are intended for medium- to long-range hunting. These bullets frequently exhibit match-grade accuracy when fired from precise hunting rifles. A flat trajectory, outstanding resistance to crosswinds and vertical winds, and maximum energy delivery to the target are all guaranteed by the renowned Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail form. Even at slower impact velocities at a distance, these bullets exhibit good penetration and expansion. Given the weight range, at least one of these bullets will work well in practically any cartridge that is 30 caliber. While there are no restrictions on using the 180-grain #2160 for large animals, it works best when shot at the highest hunting velocity. The 180-grain #2160 was used to win the renowned 1000-yard Wimbledon Cup in 1953. All of these bullets are incredibly accurate.

The relatively high BC for a hunting projectile helps maintain velocity and energy over longer distances compared to flat-base designs.
Q: Is this bullet suitable for long-range shooting?
A: Yes—while not a match bullet, its boat tail and BC (~0.50) make it capable at extended hunting ranges.
Q: How does it compare to flat-base bullets?
A: Boat tail bullets like this typically offer better aerodynamics and less wind drift, especially past mid-range distances.
Q: Is it a match or hunting bullet?
A: It is primarily a hunting bullet, designed for expansion rather than pure target precision.
Q: What game size is ideal?
A: Best suited for medium to large game, where 180gr weight provides deeper penetration.
