Description

Hornady Bullet Comparator Insert .35cal #1035

Bullet Comparator Inserts are made to work with the Lock-N-Load Bullet Comparator, which removes variables when measuring a bullet's overall length. Due to material variations and tip quality, bullet length can vary by a few thousandths.

The Lock-N-Load Bullet Comparator Inserts enable the reloader to measure the bullet from the base to a precise position on the ogive, with little, if any, variance. This adaptable approach also allows the reloader to monitor the total length of their reloads in a much more consistent manner, allowing the reloader to put more precision into their handloads, which translates into better groups at the range and more meat in the freezer.

Best Suited For

  • Precision rifle reloaders using .35 calibre (.358) bullets
  • Shooters chasing consistent seating depth (CBTO measurements)
  • Long-range and hunting reloaders needing repeatable accuracy
  • Users of the Hornady Lock-N-Load Comparator system

When To Use It

  • When measuring cartridge base-to-ogive (CBTO) instead of overall length
  • During load development and fine-tuning seating depth
  • When working with polymer-tip or inconsistent-tip bullets
  • For maintaining consistent reload batches over time

FAQs

Q: Why measure from the ogive instead of the tip?
A: Bullet tips vary slightly—measuring from the ogive provides far more consistent and reliable data.

Q: Do I need the comparator body?
A: Yes—this is an insert only and requires the Hornady Lock-N-Load Comparator tool.

Q: Is this useful for hunting ammo?
A: Absolutely—consistent seating depth improves accuracy and repeatability in the field.

Q: Can I use this for multiple calibres?
A: No—each calibre requires its own dedicated insert.

Q: Does it replace measuring overall length (OAL)?
A: It complements OAL but provides a more precise reference for reload consistency.
