This 300 grain #8830 Jacketed Soft Point bullet was introduced in 2004 for hunting, specifically huge bears, and for Handgun Metallic Silhouette competition with magnum calibers. Due to a hefty jacket and incredibly hard 6 percent / 4 percent core, it enables deep penetration on the largest game. This is Sierra's heaviest bullet in the 45cal pistol range, and it should be used in a 45 Colt if penetration is critical. It also works well with 454 Casull and related cartridges.
It has a long history in North American game fields and is widely regarded as the best bullet for hunting dangerous species with a handgun. Because of its abrasiveness, it is not advised for deer-size game. This bullet can be put in cartridges and used in current rifles with tubular magazines since it has a cannelure and can be roll-crimped.
