Description

In 1977, the 240 grain Jacketed Hollow Cavity SportsMaster bullet was created in response to requests for a "standard" weight bullet for the 45 Colt cartridge. In 1984, the skived Power Jacket was added, making this bullet ideal for 45 Colt antique and current pistols. The bore on vintage models was usually.454 inches in diameter. Modern Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and most other handguns, including Colt Single Action Army reproductions, will have.451 inch bore barrels. This bullet can be utilized in historical 45 Colt handguns, however sizing cases in older reloading dies may require extra attention. The 240 grain #8820 bullet has a roll crimping cannelure and can be fed into 45 Colt cartridges for rifles with tubular magazines. Because of the consistent expansion of the hollow cavity PowerJacket design and Sierra precision, this bullet is ideal for hunting. This bullet's consistent expansion characteristics make it suited for hunting and target competition in cartridges ranging from the 45 ACP to moderate loads (up to 1400 fps) in the 454 Casull.
