Description

RCBS Small Decapping Pins 5pk #09608

RCBS For 6mm PPC/.357 Sig 9608 Decapping Pins Small/Pack of 5. Hunting Reloading Dies. Made of the highest quality materials

For all reloading requirements decapping pins. For the majority of expander-decapping and decapping rods in contemporary manufacture, headed pins are used. Small pins are for contemporary competition-style dies/rods, X Die mandrels, PPC, and .357 Sig as well as for collet-style rods made for small-primer cartridges before the 1990s.

Best Suited For

  • Reloaders replacing worn/broken pins – essential spare part for continued reloading
  • Small-primer cartridge processing – designed for cases with smaller flash holes
  • Precision reloading setups – commonly used with competition dies and mandrels
  • Older RCBS die systems – especially pre-1990s collet-style decapping rods
  • High-volume reloaders – having spares avoids downtime when pins break

👉 Decapping pins are a consumable part—they can bend or snap if encountering tight or off-center primers.

When To Use It

  • When your existing decapping pin breaks or bends
  • During routine maintenance or die servicing
  • When switching to small flash hole brass or specific dies
  • If primers are not being pushed out cleanly
  • While setting up or restoring older reloading dies

FAQs

Q: What does a decapping pin do?
It pushes out the spent primer during the resizing/decapping step of reloading.

Q: Will this fit all RCBS dies?
No. These are for specific rods (older collet-style & some competition dies)—always verify compatibility.

Q: What’s the difference between small, large, and headed pins?

  • Small: for small flash holes / certain dies
  • Large: for larger primer systems
  • Headed: for most modern expander-decapping rods

Q: Why do decapping pins break?

  • Berdan-primed brass (wrong type)
  • Off-center flash holes
  • Crimped or stuck primers
  • Misalignment in die setup

Q: Can I reuse them many times?
Yes, but they are wear items—keeping spares is recommended.

Delivery and Compliance

  • Classified as a reloading tool component, not ammunition
  • Generally legal to import and own
  • May still be subject to export controls or retailer restrictions (especially from US suppliers)
  • In New Zealand, typically unrestricted, but always confirm current local firearm-related import rules
