Description

Lee Factory Crimp Die 7mm Mag #90821

7MM Rem Mag / 7 x 64 Lee Crimp by Brenneke Factory The bullet is crimped in place more tightly by the die than by any other tool. Even bullets without a crimp groove have been shown to fire more accurately in tests. Because pressure must rise to a higher level before the bullet moves, a strong crimp enhances accuracy. This higher start pressure insures a more uniform pressure curve and less velocity variation.

Best Suited For

  • Reloaders working with 7mm Remington Magnum
  • Hunters using heavy-recoiling rifles
  • Shooters requiring maximum bullet retention
  • Semi-auto or magazine-fed rifle users
  • Reloaders aiming for consistent velocities and pressure curves

📌 Especially useful for hunting ammunition where reliability is critical.

When To Use It

  • After bullet seating (used as a final step in reloading)
  • When experiencing bullet setback or movement under recoil
  • For ammunition subjected to rough handling or transport
  • When seeking improved consistency and accuracy
  • When loading bullets with or without a crimp groove

📌 Can be used even on bullets without a cannelure due to the collet design.

Technical Information

  • Product Code: 90821
  • Caliber: 7mm Remington Magnum / 7×64 Brenneke
  • Die Type: Factory Crimp Rifle Die
  • Material: Steel construction
  • Thread Size: Standard 7/8"-14 (fits most presses)
  • Crimp System: Collet-style crimp

🔑 Key Features

  • Collet crimp design squeezes case mouth evenly into bullet
  • Produces a firmer crimp than traditional roll crimp dies
  • Helps create a more uniform pressure curve and velocity consistency
  • Reduces risk of case buckling compared to standard crimp dies
  • Works even with bullets without crimp grooves

📌 Design Advantage: The collet applies pressure from all sides, ensuring straight, consistent crimps without distorting the case.

FAQs

1. Do I need to crimp rifle cartridges?

Not always. Many bolt-action loads rely on neck tension alone, but crimping is beneficial for heavy recoil or magazine-fed rifles.

2. What makes this die different from a standard crimp die?

It uses a collet system, not a roll crimp, resulting in a more uniform and controlled crimp.

3. Can it improve accuracy?

Yes. By increasing start pressure, it helps produce more consistent velocities, which can improve accuracy.

4. Will it damage bullets without a cannelure?

No. The collet can form a crimp without requiring a groove, though adjustment should be done carefully.
