Description

Hornady OAL Gauge Modified Case 25-06 A2506

These enclosures have been customized specifically for use with Lock-N-Load Precision gauges. Attaching them to the gauges with a special fine thread ensures that they remain absolutely square for precise alignment in the chamber of your rifle. Second, the case's neck is completely spherical and slightly opened to allow a standard diameter bullet to easily and concentrically glide into the case mouth, ensuring the most precise results conceivable.

Best Suited For

  • Reloaders using .25-06 Remington rifles
  • Precision shooters focused on bullet seating depth tuning
  • Long-range shooters seeking optimal accuracy and consistency
  • Users of the Hornady OAL Gauge system

When To Use It

Use this modified case when:

  • Determining the distance from bullet to lands (rifling contact point)
  • Setting up custom seating depth for handloads
  • Developing loads where bullet jump (e.g., 0.020”–0.050”) matters
  • Switching to a new bullet type, weight, or profile

⚠️ Important: The process should be repeated for each different bullet design, as ogive shape affects measurements.

Avoid using it:

  • As a regular firing case (it is not for live firing)
  • In rifles with tight neck chambers (may not fit properly)

FAQs

Q: Do I need this to use the Hornady OAL Gauge?
A: Yes. The gauge requires a caliber-specific modified case like this one.

Q: Can I use a regular fired case instead?
A: Not directly—this version is precision-threaded and modified for accuracy and repeatability.

Q: Does it give exact COAL for my ammo?
A: It gives the maximum length to the lands. You typically seat bullets slightly shorter (with “jump”) for safety and accuracy.

Q: Do I need to resize this case?
A: No. Modified cases are designed for measurement, not standard resizing or firing.

Q: Will one measurement work for all bullets?
A: No. Each bullet design requires re-measuring due to different ogive shapes.
