Description

Hornady OAL Gauge Curved

Seating depth regulation, as well as the resulting "jump" to the rifling, is often recognized as critical to increased accuracy. The difference between ordinary accuracy and true tack-driver performance can be measured in thousandths of an inch between the bullet and the rifling.

To use the L-N-L O.A.L. Gauge, you'll need to buy a Modified Case that fits your gun's chamber and thread it onto the gauge.

All autoloader, lever-action, and pump-action rifles are eligible. All bolt-action and single-shot weapons are also compatible. Through the ejection port, it is inserted into the chamber.

FAQs

What does the Hornady O.A.L. Gauge measure?
It helps determine bullet seating depth and the bullet's relationship to the rifling in a particular chamber.

What makes the curved model useful?
Its curved design allows it to access chambers through the ejection port on many autoloading, lever-action and pump-action rifles.

Can it be used with different calibres?
Yes. The gauge itself is multi-calibre, but the correct Hornady Modified Case is required for the specific cartridge chamber.

Is a Modified Case included?
No. A compatible Modified Case is sold separately and is required for taking measurements.

Can it be used with bolt-action rifles?
Yes. Hornady states that the curved model also fits bolt-action and single-shot firearms.
