For measuring loaded rounds, measuring cartridge lengths across the bullet tips is not a reliable (or repeatable) procedure. Variations of up to.025" are not uncommon from one round to the next. To offer consistent, precise measurements, our Bullet Comparator measures rounds from the ogive. It can also be used to check bullet consistency from base to ogive.
