From 1887 to 1963, the Webley Revolver was the regular issue service handgun for the armed services of the United Kingdom, the British Empire, and the Commonwealth. The Webley revolver has a top-break and automated extraction. During the First World War, the Webley Mk I military revolver was adopted in 1887, and the MK VI was issued in 1915. The MKVI is the most well-known model, and it is one of the most powerful top-break revolvers ever made, firing the large .455 Webley cartridge.
