The satin finished walnut stock of the X-Bolt Hunter looks beautiful and won't startle game, while the exquisite checkering gives a firm non-slip grip. Glare is also reduced by a low-luster, blued finish on the barrel and receiver. The recoil pad with Inflex Technology decreases recoil and keeps the butt from slipping off the shooter's shoulder. Browning's Feather Trigger further improves accuracy by allowing for a clean, crisp pull with no take-up and minimum overtravel (a screw adjusts trigger from 3 to 5 lbs.). Precision accuracy is provided via a free-floating, target-crowned barrel.
The X-Bolt additionally has a glass bedded, matte finished steel receiver that is drilled and tapped with a four screw per base design to ensure the optic sight is safe and stable. Three locking lugs provide great strength as well as a short 60° bolt lift that cycles smoothly and quickly while leaving plenty of room between your hand and the telescopic sight. Instead of feeding cartridges offset like traditional magazines, a detachable rotary magazine feeds them straight in line with the bolt. The Browning X-Bolt Hunter Bolt-Action Rifle also has a top-tang safety with a bolt release button, which allows you to load or examine the bolt while keeping the tang safety in the safe position.
