The Gun Nut II effectively repairs loose pads. It's used to adjust the duration of the pull, change the pads, and add or remove spacers easily. The buttstock anchor allows you to easily change length for various shooters or when the weather dictates that you wear heavier or lighter clothing. Spacers and recoil pads that tolerate 8-32 screws can be added, removed, or switched to change the length. The pad is kept in place by a steel-to-steel thread connection. Drill a 1/4" x 1 1/4" hole in the end of the buttstock and screw the anchor into the wood with the supplied Allen wrench for a simple installation. Recoil pads and spacers are not included.
"The Gun Nuts were our first invention. They were born from me constantly adjusting and changing pads on the back of my stock, and I managed to get the holes so boogered up that no screw was long enough or big enough to hold the pad. This solves that problem with machined threads." -Steve Jones
The gun nut has been constantly improved until it became what it is today. The outside steel threads are self-tapping and cut threads into the wood rather than compressing wood, which has no integrity. The flange at the back crushes the first thread to lock it into place. The inside threads are tapped 8-32 and a 5/32 socket is broached in the back to turn the gun nut.
