Wheeler Scope Ring Alignent and Lapping Kit 1" #204061
When installing a scope on a high-quality weapon, it should be routine practice to align and lap the new rings. The alignment bars in this set ensure proper alignment of both rings and will also diagnose any misalignment problem, vertical or horizontal, allowing you to remedy the problem before destroying the scope or becoming frustrated at the range.
Two alignment rods, a lapping rod with a handle (8" steel shaft, plastic ball handle), and a 1 oz jar of 220 grit silicon carbide lapping compound were included in the kit. To keep scopes in place during strong recoil, properly aligned rings generate more surface contact with the scope tube. Misaligned rings put stress on the scope tube, which can damage it, distort the reticle, and make it difficult to adjust. Following the use of this kit, scopes will need to be sighted in.
