It also brightens a dull image on a cloudy day and darkens soft gray shadows for better contrast. The yellow amplifier also eliminates purple and blue rays of light seen in a halo at the edge of black areas of a target to give a sharp black border from target contours and bullet holes in the paper. The yellow filter also makes it easier to spot sheltered game on a clear, foggy day.
