For law enforcement officials or individuals who want to keep their long gun ready with a fully charged magazine and an empty chamber, the Hornady Safe Cycle is an empty chamber indicator that also serves as a load assist device. Simply place the cartridge-shaped component of the Safe Cycle into the chamber of a (unloaded and safe) firearm, leaving the colored lever hanging out of the ejection port. Close the bolt until the extractor catches on the extractor groove on the Safe Cycle's head, then insert a loaded magazine or load the tubular magazine. The empty chamber is visibly indicated by the visible colored lever. Simply shoulder the weapon, grip the lever, and pull straight back, allowing the Safe Cycle to fall to the ground as the fully charged bolt surges forward to feed a round into the chamber. Users who prefer to charge their firearms normally can do so because the Safe Cycle does not interfere with normal operation. You can move from condition 3 to locked and loaded in less than a second on the range, on patrol, or at home. With the Hornady Safe Cycle, all you have to do is hold it and rip it.
