The Competitive AR15:
the ultimate technical guide examines each system component and rifle configuration in 30 segments in detail. This book contains detailed segments of a dozen different project rifles in order to answer the questions of what to get and what to do. Six were custom NRA matches and service rifles that didn't cost anything, the best versions of the "last" AR15 that I had defined. I also looked at the other end of the spectrum and examined two target rifles constructed in factories. Not everything is here, of course, because every major system and component set has its own segment: magazines, bolts and carriers, gas system, triggers, inventories, forends, sights (and optics), and even fire pins.
There is, as you would expect, a huge handling segment. In the past few years a lot has changed, and what works and what doesn't work is here low. It could be simple. There are also now several alternatives to cartridges, such as the Grendel, which are all present in this segment.
