The Berger VLD Hunting Bullet is one of the industry's flattest shooting hunting bullets. VLD Hunting Bullets are identical to VLD Target Bullets in design, with the exception of a thinner J4 Precision jacket for quick expansion during game usage. VLD Hunting Bullets are intended to pierce 2-3" before expanding and creating a huge wound cavity up to 15". Most creatures descend immediately as a result of the hydrostatic shock.

VLD Hunting Bullets include a secant ogive design, which reduces drag as the bullet travels to the target. Because of this lower drag, the VLD shoots flatter, has less wind drift, and has a higher maintained velocity than any others. For single-shot applications, a favorite load technique for the VLDs is touching the rifling, though some rifles may prefer as much as.150" from the rifling.
