Berger VLD Hunting 30cal 190gr Bag Of 50 30754
The streamlined, long ogive profile of the Berger VLD Bullet reduces drag, resulting in flatter trajectories and higher maintained velocity. Furthermore, because of the lower drag, the wind has less of an impact on drift, allowing for smaller windage changes.
The VLD (Very Low Drag) bullet was developed in response to a request from the United States 300 Meter Shooting Team. They were losing points late in the games due to recoil fatigue, it was discovered. Bill Davis and Dr. Lou Palmisano were tasked with creating a bullet and case combination that will shoot flatter than the team's current 308 case and 168 grain bullets.
The VLD bullet design combines two distinct characteristics. A boat tail, which is typical on long and heavy bullets, is the first. The lengthy secant ogive is the second and most crucial design characteristic. Because of the ogive form, the bullet experiences less drag as it travels to the target. The VLD shoots flatter and is less impacted by wind (less drift) than other bullets due to its lower drag. Reduced drag also correlates to increased velocity retention. If you want your bullet to assist you increase your accuracy by requiring fewer sight adjustments as conditions change, these are essential outcomes.
