Description

Tipton Deluxe Carbon Fibre Cleaning Rod 17cal 26"

Carbon fiber is ideal for the demanding tasks assigned to cleaning rods. It combines the best qualities of stainless steel and coated cleaning rods before adding important properties of its own. If used carelessly, stainless steel rods can scratch or wear barrels – but they won't pick up potentially dangerous small abrasive particles. "Coated" rods perform half of the job – they keep the stainless steel shaft from harming the rifling in your barrel – but the coating picks up minute abrasive particles, which means you're effectively dragging fine grit sandpaper through your bore.

Carbon fiber rods are the best of both worlds since they will not damage your bore like stainless steel and will not embed like coated rods. Furthermore, Carbon Fiber rods can be bent to extremes and then returned to its original straightness. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, US military armorers requested cleaning rods from Tipton to clean service rifles in harsh conditions.
We reasoned that carbon fiber is an excellent material for cleaning rods. These cleaning rods are referred to as "deluxe" because they include an ergonomically constructed handle that spins on two sets of ball bearings - the result is a cleaning rod that smoothly follows the rifling while pushing and pulling, even while under pressure.

The "shank-through" design also enables the user to deliver "reasonable" hammer blows to the end of the cleaning rod to obtain a tight patch through a bore. Four diameters and six lengths are available to accommodate most rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Except for 17 and 20 caliber rods, which are threaded 5-40, rifle and handgun rods are threaded for 8-32 accessories. Shotgun rods have a thread size of 5/16′′-27.

For easy storage, there is a hang hole. Allows for reasonable hammer strikes to clear a tough patch as well. Two high-quality bearing sets will not bind under strain and allow the shaft to follow the rifling. Ergonomic shape that is comfortable. While the shaft revolves on the bearings to follow the rifling, the handle remains fixed in your hand. Shank-through construction is ideal for working in tight spots. Carbon fiber shafts do not contain particles that could clog your rifle bore.
